Sermon Reflection – April 9, 2017


The Scripture lessons for Palm Sunday (April 9) were Isaiah 50:4-9; Philippians 2:5-11 and John 12:12-19. Pastor Rub focused his message on the Epistle and Gospel lessons. He began his message talking about how when we go to a theater to see a movie we first view previews of coming attractions. He tied this into verses 9-11 of the Epistle lesson:

Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

{Zechariah 9:9}

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
    Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
    righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
    on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
